Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa (KPk) is the new name of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), a province of Federation of Pakistan. The name was given at the occasion when the 18th amendment was passed last month by Pakistan's National Assembly. NWFP was its previous name given to this area by british ampire. Name of change was the golden demand of ANP namtionalist party since pakistan's creation and at last they succeded.
Khyber is the famous pass between central asia, afghanistan to Pakistan and India. Alaxender crossed that way when he attacked india and also muslim rulers from Afghanistan attacked india many times by the same route like rules ghaznawi and Abdali.
Pukthoonkhwa is a pushto language word which means Pukhtoons side or Pukhtoons Lands. so Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa means Pukhtoons of Khyber side.
